The Scholarship Programme, the first of its kind, was announced at the Cass Business School launch on 7th May 2003 by David Rhind, Vice Chancellor of City University. The first intake will see some 20 Palestinian and Israeli students embarking on degrees in business, finance, science and law at the University... whilst simultaneously taking part in a broad programme of cultural and social activities aimed to encourage dialogue, understanding and hope for the future.

Alongside Sheikh Mohamed, Mr Derek Tullett, Chairman of the international brokers Tullett Ltd – and a long-time supporter of City University – has also pledged to fund the scholarship. In addition to this scholarship fund, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber recently donated around £4 million to women’s education in the region.

On his latest scholarship initiatives, the MBI Al Jaber Foundation Chairman said, “The educational programmes we support, including this important programme at City University, are in line with our consistent and longstanding commitment to democracy and the regional peace process.”
