MBI Al Jaber Sponsors the International Media Awards 2011

On behalf of MBI International, MBI Al Jaber was once again the proud sponsor of the International Media Awards, held annually by the Next Century Foundation in honour of journalists, broadcasters and bloggers working in the Middle East.

At a glittering ceremony in London's West End on the 9th of April 2011, correspondents were honoured for their reporting and for their delivery of consistently good quality coverage of recent tumultuous events in the Middle East.

This exciting event is the only occasion at which all the press of the Middle East come together and celebrate peace with genuine commitment to a better future.

Categories at the Awards included Peace Through Media, An Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting, Cutting Edge, Breakaway, Outstanding Contribution to Peace Award and the Press Freedom.

These awards are annually given to journalists who help foster a climate of peace and better understanding of the Middle East; the importance of their contribution has never been more evident as the world bears witness daily to electrifying events from Tahrir Square across the entire Middle East and North Africa region.

Each of the awards given at this event recognises the courage and the perseverance of the journalists, broadcasters and bloggers working throughout the region, and acknowledges the crucial role that these individuals play in our ever-changing world.

The awards, held at the Oxford and Cambridge Club in Pall Mall were sponsored by MBI International and hosted by the Next Century Foundation (NCF).

The International Media Awards are organised under the auspices of the International Council for Press and Broadcasting which was established by The Next Century Foundation, an NGO which works to facilitate political rapprochement in the Middle East through dialogue. The Awards are held in recognition of the vital role that the media can play in contributing to understanding, without which no peace process is possible. Each year the Next Century Foundation honours editors and journalists in this way.
